Blues Explosion, ‘Flavor’ featuring Beck.
Needed.
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, ‘Leave Me Alone So I Can Rock Again’ from my favorite JSBX! album, ‘Xtra-Acme USA,’ partially a remix of songs from ‘Acme USA,’ partially new songs.
For May 7.
,Today’s themememe: Hey Girl’s Name
I’ve got a lot of songs with girls’ names that I really love. Waits’ ‘Big Bad Mariah’ from ‘Rain Dogs’ was a very close second, and Stewart Copeland’s ‘Miss Gradenko’ from the Police’s ‘Synchronicity’ album (which I think just gets better and better with age—not the song so much, though I love it, but the album, which obviously was their biggest hit but with the exception of Andy Summers’ ‘Mother’ (perhaps the worst song by a great band ever), it’s just one dark and stormy act of brilliance after another) was third.
‘Whole Lotta Rosie’ was almost impossible not to choose. Especially because I exist solely on the fortnight-stone-furlong system of measurements. ‘Visions of Johanna,’ ‘Absolutely Sweet Marie,’ ‘Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts,’ and ‘Maggie’s Farm’ were there in my Dylan songs, but …
I settled on ‘Blue Green Olga’ from The Blues Explosion’s ‘Acme’ album. You know how I do.
,For Dysfunctionarian: ‘Butter of 69’ by Butter08 from the album Butter, Russel Simmins from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion!, Sean Lennon, and Cibo Matto.
,A 3:04 song for March 4.
‘Confused,’ the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion! Cause, yeah. Grading.

Now here’s a new Christmas classic: JSBX! “High Gear”
I drink more egg nog than malt liquor, baby.
