I have two things to say:
1. If you’re not following Chris’ last day adventure with his old laptop: for shame. Rectify post haste.
2. I am terrified this is going to end at the great inferno in the landfill and that there will be no CLAAAAW! to save D810.

cwj asked: Which factor will hurt the Red Sox the most this season: shortstop, lack of power in the outfield, relief pitching, Tek's retirement, or the loss of John Lackey for the season.
Starting pitching is shaky at best after Lester (I don’t believe Josh Beckett is done, but he’s on the slide), but I would go with relief pitching.
The loss of John Lackey is a plus.
All of this is Salty’s fault, of course.
Note to self: Never argue facts with an engineer.
It is — slowly. I have a paper into MLA for next year that will be a backbone of the book, and I’ll try to write that next week while I’m on break.
Basically my working premise is that Stephenson’s works operate on a similar metaphor to rhizome postulated by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, two of my favorite philosophers/critical theorists.
For example, in Anathem, the rhizome is the concent, the spaces where the avout, the philosopher kings of the novel live and work in a cloistered environment separate from the Saecular world—until the Saecular Authority needs the avout and then the closed space is opened—forcefully if need be—and the avout are used to solve problems.
In Snow Crash, the rhizome is the drug/virus that makes the jump from the bits in the computer to the human mind—once that demarcation is permeated, Hiro’s world changes.
No worse feedback than I got from my diss advisor when I flew from Atlanta to SoCal to meet with her after working on it for a year.
At [redacted] we’re on quarters, so my next term starts in a few weeks.
And quiet you. Don’t you have a laptop to take to the zoo or something?
I’ve had them call him ‘Scott,’ but never ‘Mr. F.’
NEEDED.
Thank you Based Chris.
There’s the whole of my day right there in that gif.
Chris, you sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
cwj replied to your post: Samsplace?
Moe had that life jacket, so I’m sure he’s ok, at least.
True. Moe is plucky.
cwj replied to your post: Could I ask a favor? I’m making an effort to make my brain more than a receptacle for numbers and useless sports knowledge, and just picked up some Pynchon and Fitzgerald (MINNESOTA PROVINCIALISM! WOO!) to slowly grind back up to speed. Could you recommend a few other things for me to read?
No Twilight?

cwj replied to your video: More from iTunes. If you don’t like Waits … well,…
He’s no DeBarge
Judge allows it.
