Talked to the Vet; Eloise’s kidneys are working too hard. He’s not sure why, but she’s stable, and we’ll try a low protein diet with a vaso-dilator to hopefully ease back on the stress on her kidneys.
He wants to send her off for a kidney biopsy which is rill expensive, and requires sedation. Ugh.
But the good news is she’s up and around and eating and drinking as ever. I pick her up in 90 minutes.
Eloise is home.
Now, we wait a month to see what the new diet and meds do for her kidney functions.
Not a great thing, by any means, and costs will run over a dollar a day, but what price love?
Eloise had an unbelievably bad night, but hopefully by the end of the week, we’ll have confirmation—they are starting her on the treatment now, as it can only help her weakened condition.
So despite the fact that she was ejecting blood from multiple orifices last night, Eloise remains with us, and should for many years to come.
We’re waiting on labs to go through—a friend from prep school is now a Hahvad trained epidemiologist and UGA trained Vet and is running the labs herself gratis because she’s clearly an angel—but it’s near certain that it’s Addison’s.
She’ll be ineligible for the NFL, MLB, and the Olympics because she’ll be on steroids for the rest of her life. BUT, BUT, the rest of her life should be many years.
And that’s a hell of a lot better than it looked at 2 am last night. And at 4. And at 5. And when I carried her in to our fantastic Vet’s office at 7:45.
Long live the Wheez.
Back home—The Weez is home. Fully-armed and operational. She’s attacking her toys, bouncing and barking.
Better living through chemistry.
Seattle was great—full report coming later.
Eloise and her ball: Reunited and it feels so good.
Why the hell is this upside down? Tumblr fail.
Eloise is doing great, y’all.
4.6 miles with Eloise. Good dog, now stop being mental.
3.5 miles with Eloise and treeeemendous shin pain.
Icing and aspirin ahoy.
Eloise rakes it reasy at my folks’ house.
For waking me up at 6:30 then dropping diarrhea all over the mud room after you went out.
Here’s Eloise waiting for her Addison’s shot. All blood work was normal, and she’s good for another month.
Eloise does indeed want her supper.
added: I have no idea why Tumblr flips this upside down.
