Thing is, we hate bad rom-coms; it is a hard genre—like doing something new with New York Cheesecake—but my real beef is not with crap like ‘Something Borrowed’—I mean that trailer smelled like cat urine.
‘One Day’ has a cast that usually picks good scripts—Hathaway and Clarkson—and boom! Both their characters bite the dust. Literally in one case. Yet the marketing sold it as a rom-com. Why greenlight a picture and then sell it as a completely different genre? I would guess whoever produced it got scared.
